Question about Texas Instruments TI-89 Calculator

The error says: Variable or Flash application is locked, protected, or archived. This error message appeared out of nowhere and I didn't archive anything. I don't even know how to archive.

When you download a program make it is saved to ram and not to archive.

You have attempted to use, edit, or delete an archived variable. For example, the expression dim(L1) produces an error if L1 is archived

Press Menu.

Use arrows to highlight STAT icon and press EXE.

Enter your data in two lists (x-values in L1, Y-values in L2)

Press F2 to activate the CALC Tab at the bottom of screen.

This is what you see.

Press F3 to activate the REGression tab.

This is what you will see: the TABs at the bottom of screen.

Each tab corresponds to a regression model: X-linear, X2 quadratic, etc.

If you press F3:X^2, you get the following

You see the parameters of the regression equation, the coefficient of determination r^2, and the Mean Square error. No correlation coefficient is defined for this regression model.

For other models like linear, logarithmic, power and exponential regressions, the correlation coefficient is defined and is thus displayed with the regression equation. It is the r-value.

Although the coefficient of correlation is well defined for a few regression models, you do not calculate it directly because your calculator does that for you.

I could just tell you that it is displayed along with the statistical results (equation of best fitting curve, ) but if you do not know how to do that you will just shoot my post. If you know how to do a linear regression, stop right here and ignore what follows.

For those interested: How to do a regression on the calculator

I am sorry but I will have to assume that you know how to enter the data through the [MENU][STAT].

On that same screen, you have a menu option [F6:Draw]. If you select it, the regression curve will be drawn on the same screen as your statistical graph. This allows you to judge if the fit is good. If it is not, you have the option to choose another model.

The other option [F5:Copy] allows you to save the regression equation in the Y1, Y2, etc. variables.

I am sorry but I will have to assume that you know how to enter the data through the [MENU][STAT].

- After you finish entering all the data
- Press [F1:Graph], select Gph1,
Gph2, or Gph3.
- Once the graph of the experimental data is drawn, you
will have access to the diverse regression models.
- Your choices are
- [X:Linear]
- [Med-Med],
- [Quadratic :X^2]
- [Cubic;X^3]
- [Quartic: X^4].
- Press [F6] to scroll right to access the others
- [Logarithmic:LOG],
- [Exponential :EXP],
- [Power :Pwr] and
- [Sinusoidal: Sin]

Hello,

One variable you created has the same name as a system variable, or a flash application variable. Variables such as theses are protected: you cannot modify them.

Use Var-Link to check the names of variables you want to create: If the name you want to use is already assigned to an App, you cannot use it.

Hope it helps.

I already answered a Q like this - you can't do 2 variable statistics on the TI-30XA, it only does one variable statistic.

To do 2 variable stat like linear regression, you need the TI-36X or TI-30X IIS, or comparable HP, casio etc

Usually answered in minutes!

I downloaded a RAM program onto it and when I attempt to use it the "variable or flash application is locked, protected, or archive" message comes up!

Every time I try to run a program that I create and I have used before it says that message. I'm really worried I have the last exam and I don't know what that means. I will appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks

Whenever I try to make a unit conversion I have the same error: Variable of Flash application is locked, protected, or archived. I tried to erase the ram memory but it did not work

So when I reset the RAM (guess u meant RAM-All RAM) my FlashApps are still avaibale afterwards?
